    Ride to and through the scenic roads in Dove Mountain.

    The ride will head out south along La Canada, then Magee to Cortaro to Silverbell, then Coachline, Twin Peaks (across the I-10 overpass and Tangerine Rd).  Next it's up and over the hill on Dove Mt. with a stop for water and restrooms at the park at the very end of Dove Mt. road.   Return up and over Dove Mtn, then west along Moore Road and south on La Canada Rd back to the start.

    A riders are welcome to ride out ahead of the B group.

    This route goes N to Tangerine, then west to Twin Peaks, then the loop bikepath (crossing over at La Canada) with a stop at mile 24 at Rillito River Park.   Then up Via Entrada and then Christie to the top and then down the Magee hill, and then back to Brueggers' via Northern, OV country club, and the bike path to Naranja.

    Alright everyone, it is time to get dirty. Join me for the Willow Springs Gravel Grind. I love this ride because there is very little traffic and it presents the opportunity to spend a lovely day in the dessert. The road surface is good; traffic on the road is light; and we may very well see more cows than cars. While there are no steep extended climbs on the route, there are a couple of short pitches that get up into the 10% range.

    Gravel bikes, cyclocross bikes and mountain bikes are the best choices for doing this ride while road bikes would not be a good choice for this ride. Some of the sandy sections would present a serious challenge. I recommend a minimum tire width of 40mm.

    The ride starts at the intersection of Hwy 77 and Willow Springs Road (just south of the Biosphere turnoff). The parking is on State Trust Land so a Trust Land Recreational Permit is highly recommended (https://land.az.gov/applications-permits#RecreationalTable) for parking. 

    The ride itself is a 28 mile out and back course. The road surface is normally pretty good depending upon how recently it has been graded. If grading has been awhile, the surface can have washboard in places and sand in some of the washes.

        WOMEN'S RIDE! 

        This ride will go out to Saddlebrooke via our alternate route.  We'll take Naranja west to La Cholla, then go into Rancho Vistoso and Sun City via Moore/La Canada/Hidden Springs Roads back to Oracle Rd.  We'll proceed N to the usual stop in Catalina for water/restrooms (~15 miles in).  Then we'll skip the usual long hill into Saddlebrooke by taking Eaglecrest Rd to Edwin Rd instead. 

        Once in Saddlebrooke, we ride on smooth roads and then take an alternate route back - Lago del Oro Parkway to the hill at Schroeder Rd (it's past the Golder Ranch Rd intersection), continuing onto Gwynn's Run to Wilds Rd.  Then west to the light at Oracle Rd.  From there, it's back to Brueggers the usual way south via Oracle/Innovation/Tangerine.
