    Starting in Oro Valley, this ride takes us on a delightful loop through the small town of Oracle, a former stage-coach stopover. Oracle is also an official Dark Sky community for stargazing.   Riding options in Oracle include the Cody Loop and Oracle State Park.  State Park entry is $3 unless you have a state pass; National Park passes are not excepted.

    Today we tackle the ascent of Kitt Peak, a 12-mile climb.  Kitt Peak is rated as the third hardest climb in Arizona and 130th in the US.   Meet at the 386 turnoff in the dirt parking lot.

    Socialize with a tailgate party after the ride.

    • Add 30 miles by starting your ride at Three Points and meeting the group at the official start.
    • The 12-mile climb averages 5.7%.  34% of the climb is between 0 and 5%,  60% is between 5 and 10%, and the steepest section is 8.7% (see below).

    Starting in Sahuarita, this ride takes us to the beautiful San Xavier Mission along some country roads. San Xavier Mission is a National Historic Landmark and was founded as a Catholic mission by Father Eusebio Kino in 1692. Construction of the current church began in 1783 and was completed in 1797. The oldest intact European structure in Arizona, the church's interior is filled with marvelous original statuary and mural paintings.
